Project Info

The project involves the creation of a permanent exhibition space for KACST, designed to embody the Kingdom’s leadership in science, research, and innovation. The primary focus of this post is on the architectural design of the building’s exterior, which had to serve as a national icon while respecting both modernity and identity.

The entrance area acts as a symbolic threshold, offering an immediate impression of the fusion between modernity and tradition, technology and humanity, and reinforcing the Salmani values of:

Integration of natural light and materials
Human-centric design

Architectural authenticity

Urban harmony

This post focuses exclusively on the exterior architectural design. The interior design, which offers a highly immersive and interactive spatial journey aligned with KACST’s scientific mission, will be showcased in a separate entry.

CONCEPT FOR PROJECT
The architectural challenge was to reinterpret the building envelope using the principles of Salmani architecture, a contemporary architectural identity rooted in the heritage and culture of Saudi Arabia. The project aimed to merge technological innovation with cultural authenticity, achieving an iconic yet contextual structure.
